I personally own one of these jackets and have worn it for around 6 years, I like to get my money's worth, you know. I have certainly put it through its paces and it has never let me down, it's very windproof and highly waterproof. The material is tough and stands up to a fair bit of abuse and the collar is nice and high - so when you are in high wind and cold weather it keeps the drafts out and you are super toasty.
After 6 years of use, the waterproof outer is starting to get a bit tired but is still functional. No seams have failed or anything like that, at worst the material is getting a little shiny in places and the whole thing feels a little limp compared to when I bought it. I've re-proofed the outer a couple of times as you would expect from this length of use. I still wear the fleece from the inside (which zips nicely into the outer or can be worn separately) quite often and the fabric is still pretty much perfect.
The only thing that has failed is the pocket lining mesh stuff which has holes in both pockets, they are now no longer functional as pockets as anything you put in them ends up inside the lining of the coat. This does not affect the functionality of the jacket as a piece of performance clothing, though, it is just highly annoying. Sometimes you forget and put your keys in there and have to mess around for 5 minutes fishing them out.
IS THE BUILD QUALITY GOOD? Yes.
WAS IT REASONABLY PRICED? Considering how long I've been wearing it, yes!
WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN? Definitely!
WOULD I RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS? Definitely!
WAS IT VALUE FOR MONEY? YES.
You see? They are not wrong. It truly is a tri-climate jacket! Good for sub-zero U.K. winters, an autumn walk in your local park, and chillin' in Costa with a latte.
Check out the tri-climates I often use it in! #TS
